An Off-site Extended Session on Ecological Expertise Was Held

On 26 February 2026, an extended off-site session of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Ecology and Nature Management was held at the Republican Centre for State Ecological Expertise, Training, Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. The session was held on the topic “Ecological expertise as a tool for preventing adverse impacts of economic and other activities on the environment.”

The event was attended by Zhanna Chernyavskaya, Chairperson of the Standing Commission; Aleksey Stasyukevich, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection; as well as representatives of the Standing Commission, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, and the Centre.

Tatyana Dubik, Director of the Centre, introduced the main areas of the institution’s activities. During the session, issues related to conducting state ecological expertise, strategic ecological assessment, and environmental impact assessment were considered. Reports were delivered by Vasiliy Kovalenko, Head of the Department of State Ecological Expertise of the Ministry, and Vladimir Gamezo, Deputy Head of the Directorate for State Ecological Expertise of the Centre.

Participants discussed practical experience in implementing existing legal mechanisms and improving legislation in the field of state ecological expertise, strategic ecological assessment, and environmental impact assessment, exchanged views, and summarized the outcomes of the off-site session. The event facilitated the exchange of professional experience.
