On February 15, the Republic of Belarus observes the Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers and the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.
This is not just a date on the calendar — it is pain and pride, courage and devotion to duty, and the lives of thousands of people who went through the trials of war far from their homeland. We remember those who did not return home, and with deep respect we bow our heads to the feat of our compatriots who, remaining faithful to their oath, demonstrated resilience, strength of spirit, and true bravery. Their courage is forever etched in history.
Today, a solemn flower-laying ceremony took place at the “Island of Tears” memorial, and the event was attended by the Director and employees of the Centre. Let us honour the memory of the fallen, support veterans and their families, and do everything possible to preserve peace.
